Federal authorities join Loudoun County corruption investigation
Date published: 2/7/2007 LEESBURG, Va. (AP) - Federal prosecutors are investigating possible corruption among officials in Loudoun County. Loudoun Commonwealth's Attorney James Plowman announced a joint investigation yesterday with the U-S attorney's office in Alexandria. The announcement came the same day the county's board of supervisors passed ethics measures designed to increase transparency. The Loudoun board voted to discourage supervisors from accepting campaign donations from developers and others with pending projects. It also passed disclosure guidelines that could expose potential conflicts of interest. According to published reports last month, major land-use decisions in Loudoun have been dominated by a small network of officials and development interests.
