Heroin distribution at abandoned market

Police brief

Date published: 1/25/2008

Spotsylvania sheriff's deputies have charged two women with possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

The Spotsylvania women were charged with selling heroin out of an abandoned building on Old Plank Road, formerly known as the Hudson Market, said Maj. Michael Timm of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

Shannon Springer and Heather Monnett are both 31. Springer was also served a capias, Timm said.

He said when police got to the market, they discovered 26 bags of individually wrapped bags of heroin in the main room of the building. They discovered a few more bags scattered throughout. In total, the heroin weighed more than 6 grams, he said.

Springer is being held without bond and Monnett was given a $3,000 bond, Timm said.
