SPRINGFIELD, Va. (AP) - A Fairfax County Police officer helped deliver a baby on the side of the road.

Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, a driver flagged Officer Syed Ahmed in the area of Braddock Road and Inverchapel Road and said his wife was about to have a baby.

With help from Ahmed and the expectant father, the 36-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl in the passenger seat moments later.

Ahmed says the baby was screaming and happy and before he knew it, paramedics arrived and took over.

Mother and daughter are fine, and were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
