ALTA, Iowa (AP) - The 78-year-old Dale Davis maybe legally
blind, but he's still "The Hammer." Saturday night he showed why.
Davis bowled a perfect game -- 12 consecutive strikes. His final
strikes brought people out of the bar to cheer him on. The Alta,
Iowa, man says for a few minutes he felt like a pro, despite his
age and handicap. He adds it was quite a thrill.
Davis says his sister encouraged him to start bowling again after his vision began
failing more than a decade ago. The only time he can see the ball
now is when he picks it up. But the perfect bowler says he can tell
how he's doing by the sound.
