Center open to help Stafford tornado victims

The victims of last week's storm and tornado are also still cleaning up.

They are getting some help from the county as they get ready to rebuild their lives. Spokeswoman Cathy Riddle says the customer service center at the Berea Fire Station is helping with permitting. She says one is required before making repairs to a storm damaged home. Since the process is usually lengthy, their staff is helping expedite the process.

The center is also providing information on Red Cross related disasters and aide. County staff is also taking contact information and ideas for people who want to help with relief efforts. Riddle says they have already collected donations of clothing they will decide how to distribute.

The center will be open Monday through Friday of this week from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m and longer as necessary. County staff may be reached through the customer service center at the Berea Fire Station by calling 540-658-4221.
