WFLS News receives prestigious National Clarion Award
Station newcasts receive recognition for third consecutive year.

The Association for Women in Communications has announced that the news staff of WFLS-FM is the recipient of this year’s National Clarion Award for Radio Newscast.
The award is for '6 @ 6' that was broadcast on November 30, 2007. The newscast was anchored by Deirdre Blake and featured stories from the news staff including reporter Niche Herman.
The judges stressed that WFLS delivers a solid newscast, touching on national news while emphasizing stories of local interest.
This is the third year the station has been recognized for its news broadcasts. The station also won the award in 2006 and 2007.
The Clarion Awards is a renowned competition and highly sought after by both men and women. The awards annually recognize excellence in the communications fields. This year’s competition drew more than 500 entries.
Started in 1972, the Clarion program honors excellence in across all communications disciplines, including advertising & marketing, audiovisual productions, books & CDs, brochures, custom & special publications, education, film, fund development, magazines, major news events, newsletters, newspapers, online media, photography, graphics & design communications, public relations, radio and television.
The award was presented Saturday, September 27 at a ceremony in Arlington, Virginiafeaturing CNN's Christiane Amanpour.
