The body of a local man who disappeared while swimming in the Rappahannock River Sunday afternoon has been recovered. Authorities and family members say 51-year-old Terrence Carratura was swimming in the river Sunday afternoon when he went a distance offshore. He disappeared and police were called shortly thereafter. A search started Sunday afternoon and was halted because of a storm. The operation resumed at 9:00 a.m. Monday morning with Carratura's family anxiously waiting. Rescue workers finally recovered his body seven feet under water and tangled in a tree. This is the second drowning death in the water of the Rappahannock this month.
