Were capital murder charges to be filed in the case of slain local delivery man Yong yui Zhang, it likely won't be in Fredericksburg. Commonwealth's attorney Charles Sharp says evidence in the investigation indicates Zhang actually did not die while being attacked off Charles Street on July 3rd. He had just made a delivery for his family's local China Express Restaurant.
His bloody shoe was found at the scene, his car missing. Suspects Marcey White and Jermaine Montgomery were caught on tape trying to use Zhang's credit card the next night. They were arrested using it two days later in Franklin, Virginia. Several hours later his body was found in Sussex County.
Sharp says the timeline makes it look like the actual death occurred in another area. Once that is proven, the Commonwealth's Attorney would get jurisdiction to pursue capital murder charges. If the time of death can't be proven in another area it could, by statue, be prosecuted where the body was found in Sussex County.
