LOS ANGELES (AP) - Lil Wayne is the one to beat at the Grammys.

Lil Wayne has eight nominations, including album of the year for "Tha Carter III."

Coldplay is also up for album of the year for "Viva La Vida." Coldplay has seven nominations. Jay-Z, Kanye West and Ne-Yo have six nominations.

Besides Lil Wayne and Coldplay, the other contenders for album of the year are Ne-Yo's "Year of the Gentleman," "In Rainbows" by Radiohead and "Raising Sand" by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

The nominees for record of the year are "Chasing Pavements" by Adele, "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay, "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis, "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. and "Please Read The Letter" by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

The best new artist nominees are Adele, Duffy, Jonas Brothers, Lady Antebellum and Jazmine Sullivan.

The Grammys will be handed out Feb. 8 in Los Angeles.
