Ladysmith Volunteer Fire Department's President Adam Stroop announced Friday the establishment of a financial relief fund for fire and rescue volunteer, Chief Murel "Butch" Hoskins.
Butch has suffered a brain aneurysm and cannot return to work for an indefinite period. He has actively volunteered in Caroline for over 26 years. Additionally he has served many years as a member of the Hazardous Materials and Dive Rescue Teams. Currently Butch holds the position as the District Fire Chief for the Ladysmith VFC.
Stroop says Chief Hoskins has given unselfishly of himself to others, now his Department is asking for others to aid him in his time of need. Persons interested in offering financial support may send donations to the: Butch Hoskins Relief Fund c/o Union Bank and Trust P.O. Box 220 Ladysmith, VA 22501. Donations may also be made at any branch of Union Bank and Trust. For more information, contact President Adam Stroop or PIO Victor Podbielski with the Ladysmith Volunteer Fire Company at (804)448-2777 or visit www.ladysmithfire.org.
