MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The owner of a tour bus company says a driver suffered a ruptured aneurysm just before his bus veered off a southern Minnesota interstate Wednesday and rolled into a ditch.
Two people died in the crash. Authorities say two passengers are in critical condition and three are in fair condition. Thirteen others were treated and released.
Ed Erickson was driving a group of mostly older passengers when the bus swerved off Interstate 90. The passengers were returning from a day trip to an Iowa casino. A State Patrol spokesman says the 52-year-old Erickson, who survived, had a valid commercial license to operate the passenger bus.
Court records show Erickson pleaded guilty in 2002 to driving while intoxicated and crossing the center line of a highway. His blood alcohol level was measured at .15 percent, well above the legal limit.
