North Anna reactor back in service after shutdown, repairs

LOUISA, Va. (AP) - Dominion Virginia Power says a nuclear reactor at its North Anna power station is back in service after a faulty electronic circuit card that caused it to shut down.
Unit 2 at the Louisa County plant tripped automatically shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Dominion Virginia Power spokesman Rick Zuercher said that the circuit card failed, causing four valves to close. The valves control the flow of steam in the turbine system.
The unit sensed a problem and shut down automatically.
The reactor began making electricity again Thursday after technicians replaced the circuit card.
The shutdown came less than a week after the reactor was restarted following replacement of coolant pump seals.
