Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative, contract, and out-of-state crews have restored power to more than 20,000 NOVEC customers since Monday morning when ice-laden trees and branches fell on power lines. Crews worked through the night. As of Tuesday morning approximately 1,600 customers were without power.
Snow is making the task more difficult today, but the crews are determined to get the lights and heat back on as soon as possible.
Many of the outage locations are in the woods and remote areas making it more of a challenge for crews to access these areas on foot to locate and remove trees and branches from power lines, and then reenergize the lines.
