I guess if life was fair, I'd look a little more like Keith Urban and a little less like......well, like me.

There for a couple years the debate was always "Faith or Shania?".  I was always a Team Shania guy much like my daughter was a Team Edward girl.  Anyhew, she's got new music coming out....read and discuss.

A DC group is pitching to pitch DC as a site for the 2024 Summer Olympics.  Let's set aside cost, infrastructure, and terror threats for just a second and imagine how much cash we could get renting our houses out to wealthy French people during those 2 weeks....

Oh wait, didn't they win the National Championship last year?  And the year before.  And aren't they rated #1 going into this year?  Aren't we supposed to schedule some patsies to start the year?

Only weeks ago, we would have assumed Jr. was a lock for the Chase.  And even though he's still very much in the hunt, we can no longer call him a lock.  He's got to get some top 10 finishes over the next several weeks.  See his Michigan troubles here....

I've gone way to long without mentioning the words "finger" and "amputation" when talking about Jake Owen.  Seriously.....this guy's go cart accident last month was way worse than he originally let on.  So he has to have a part of one of his fingers amputated.  But he had a gig that night.........no worries.  Read.

I admit, I stole this from another radio station, but it's a great video of Lonestar doing an acoustic version of "My Front Porch Looking In".  We all get to see them on 9/7 here in Fredericksburg.  Click on the Lonestar banner on the home page to get your tickets.

This is really cool.  Someone took Dolly's song "Jolene", and slowed it down by 25%.  No, it no longer sounds like Dolly, but the result is really surprising.  It captures a new level of soul and emotion on an already great song.  Listen and let us know what you think.

Each Friday, I'm going to try and point out a couple things going on around the area that might be of interest.  Some will be pretty mainstream, others may be a little out there.  And I'll do my best to be honest in my assessment of what you might like about them.  So here's the start for this weekend.

Friday night, one of the area's best singers will be performing for free at the Downtown Marriott.  Her name is Ashley Chevalier, and she sings top notch blues.  If you've never seen her, you're in for a treat.  And it's FREE!!

Continuing this weekend is Les Miserables at Riverside Dinner Theater.  Maybe you saw the movie, but if you have never seen it live, you'll be stunned.  The caliber of talent that Ron and Patrick at Riverside are able to attract gets better with each show.  Reserve now because these shows will be selling out.  540-370-4300.  Word of caution, it is NOT free.

Finally, Sunday, how about paddle boarding?  I've seen people going down the Rappahannock on paddle boards, and I've always been curious to give it a try.  I've been told that it's easier for women than it is for men.  Not sure why.  Anyway, you can give it a try at Mott's Resevoir Sunday beginning at 10AM.  Call 540-372-1086.

Just some ideas. Have a great weekend.

So we had the WFLS van "wrapped" last week.  It features pictures of a bunch of country stars including Miranda Lambert.  I didn't think anything of it until someone pointed out that Miranda's picture was pretty sexy.  I looked, looked again, and looked some more.  Yes, it's a sexy picture.  I'm going to assume that as we drive down the road and we hear screeching tires on the driver's side, they will belong to a man.  Just a hunch.  Meanwhile, I'm going outside............to look at the van.

We rent a little cabin on a little lake in a little state park every year.  No TV, no WiFi, and very poor cell phone service.  Spunky 2 pound bass on a peaceful clear pond.  As relaxing as it sounds (and it is), planning for it is hectic.  Here are some vacation planning tips.  Nothing ground breaking, just helpful hints.  Have a great week if I don't see you on the water.

I admit it, I'm one of those people that doesn't buy a lottery ticket until the jackpot gets really big.  As if 100 million isn't worth the effort.  So now I'll plunk down 2 bucks and start dreaming.  Good luck Saturday night!!
