HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Attorneys for two Penn State administrators charged with lying to a grand jury say prosecutors filed charges before they knew the facts.
Athletic director Tim Curley and former vice president for business Gary Schultz are fighting allegations that they lied to a grand jury and failed to properly report suspected child abuse. Curley is on leave and Schultz is retired.
The attorney general's office had said in a court filing Monday that investigators have concluded that the alleged attack that led to coach Joe Paterno's firing took place in February 2001, not March 2002.
Defense attorneys say that means the statute of limitations on a charge against their clients of failure to report has expired and should be dismissed.
