LA PLATA, Md. (AP) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office say a 32-year old LaPlata man has been shot and killed on a street in La Plata.
Diane Richardson, a police spokeswoman, says sheriff's officers were patrolling an area of Charles Street when they heard gunshots about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. Officers searched the area and found Martin Hawkins in the road in the 200 block of Kent Avenue.
Hawkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
