A Richmond man shows up at Mary Washington Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg Thursday evening.
Fredericksburg police said the man and two women and another man were on foot in the area the 7-11 on Dixon Street when they heard what sounded like firecrackers just before feeling a sharp pain in his shin. His friends took him to the hospital after seeing that his leg was bleeding.
Police said the three friends told similar stories, though some of the details differed. Police were told the shooting occurred in the 7-Eleven parking lot, behind the store and on a street near the store. The victim was treated and released.
Police said no one in the Mayfield or 7-Eleven areas reported hearing firecrackers or gunfire Thursday evening.
