DETECTIVES APPREHEND BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT: On February 25, detectives assigned to the CCSO Criminal Investigations Division, with the assistance of officers assigned to COPS and the Southern Maryland Intelligence Center (SMIC), were conducting surveillance at various banks in the county due to recent bank robberies. At approximately 1:42 p.m., investigators observed a man run from the BB&T Bank at 2140 Old Washington Road in Waldorf and get into a Toyota Camry which was parked nearby. Suspecting a robbery had just occurred, the detectives attempted to block the vehicle in, but the driver struck the detective's car, disabling it. Two suspects bailed out of the vehicle and fled. The detectives apprehended one suspect, but the second suspect escaped. Simultaneously, 911 received calls from the bank that they had just been robbed. According to bank employees, a lone male entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The teller complied and the suspect fled.
Tysean Deonta Daughtry, 21, of Washington, D.C. was charged with robbery, assault and reckless endangerment. Based on evidence detectives recovered, CCSO investigators linked Daughtry to a recent bank robbery that occurred in Berwyn Heights, MD. They notified Prince George's County detectives who subsequently charged Daughtry in connection with the Berwyn Heights case. Detectives have tentatively identified the second suspect. Det. Hemsley is investigating.

Officers arrived and discovered the stabbing occurred in the 2700 block of Tyburn Oaks Court in Waldorf. Investigation showed the victim, 23, was involved in a fight with someone he knew. During the fight, one male suspect punched the victim and a second suspect stabbed him several times. The victim was driven to the hospital by a friend where he was treated for serious injuries. Arrest warrants have been obtained for Marcus McClain Johnson, 32, of Forestville and Christopher Leon Law, 24, of Waldorf. Detective J. Elliott is continuing the investigation. SCAM ALERT: The Charles County Sheriff's Office was recently informed about a scam. A citizen received a voice mail message from a man who said he was affiliated with the sheriff's office. The caller told the citizen he was the subject of a "federal inquiry." The caller instructed the citizen to call an out-of-state number to "settle the inquiry" and indicated a warrant would be obtained if the citizen did not comply. The citizen realized the call sounded like a hoax and called the sheriff's office instead. Detectives learned the number that appeared on the citizen's caller ID was the non-emergency line of the Charles County Sheriff's Office and the number had been spoofed, meaning the caller had deliberately falsified the telephone number and/or name relayed as the caller ID to disguise the identity of the calling party. Anyone who receives this type of message is asked to call the CCSO non-emergency line at (301) 932-2222 and report the information. For additional information about caller ID spoofing visitFCC guides about caller-ID.
