Vandalism | Destruction of Property – On August 12th at 2:11PM, officers responded to the Manassas Mosque located at 12950 Center Entrance Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate a reported vandalism. Staff reported to police that the vandalism was initially discovered by a security guard conducting a check of the area. The vandalism is believed to have occurred sometime between 11:30PM on August 11th and 4:45AM on August 12th. The investigation into the incident revealed that during that time an unknown person(s) spray painted exterior walls, windows and doors of the building using orange spray paint. In addition to the spray paint, an outer glass pane on a rear side door was also found damaged. No entry was made into the building and no suspects were seen during the encounter. After reviewing the damage, no identifiable markings or words were discovered with the exception of one obscenity. At this time, it is not evident that the vandalism was a hate crime; however, any vandalism reported at a religious institution is carefully investigated to determine the criminal intent of the suspect(s). There are no suspects at this time and the investigation continues.
