Armed Bank Robbery *ARREST – On March 20th, detectives from the Robbery Unit were able to identify the suspect involved in the armed robbery of the Carter Bank and Trust located at 8402 Sudley Rd in Manassas which occurred on May 18th of 2013. Detectives received an anonymous tip through Crime Solvers which led to the identity of a possible suspect. After an extensive investigation, detectives were able to determine that this suspect, Anthony BATTS, was the suspect responsible for the robbery and obtained arrest warrants. Members of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force were able to locate and arrest BATTS without incident at his residence on Cedar Cove Way in Woodbridge.
                Arrested on March 20th:
                Anthony Ricardo BATTS, 38, of 1838 Cedar Cove Way #201 in Woodbridge
Charged with robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and grand larceny
                Court date: June 10, 2014 | Bond: held WITHOUT bond
 
Armed Bank Robbery [Previously Released] – On May 18th at 11:00AM, police responded to the Carter Bank and Trust located at 8402 Sudley Rd in Manassas (20109) for a bank robbery. Employees reported to police that an unknown man entered the bank, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. The man took an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency before fleeing the area, possibly in a vehicle. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used in the search for the suspect. Investigation continues.
 

Attempted Abduction with Intent to Defile | Strangulation – On March 20th at 9:29PM, officers responded to a parking lot located in the area of Potomac Mills Cir and Nazarene Way in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an attempted abduction. The victim, a 34 year old woman of Lorton, reported to police that she was standing next to her vehicle after getting off of work when she was approached by an unknown man who asked the victim for directions. During the encounter, the man grabbed the victim and began to choke her leading to a struggle. Both the victim and the suspect fell to the ground, at which point, the man continued to strangle the victim. The man demanded the victim’s car keys and attempted to force her into the backseat of the vehicle. After a struggle, the suspect fled on foot. Minor injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect.
                Suspect Description:
Hispanic male, between 20 & 25 years of age, 5’5”, 150lbs with a thin build and short black hair
Last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, and a black beanie style cap

Malicious Wounding | Residential Burglary | Grand Larceny – On March 20th at 5:35PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 11000 block of Edgepark Cir in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 20 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that he answered a knock at his front door and encountered a known acquaintance, identified as Daniel VARGAS, who immediately assaulted him. The assault led to a physical fight between the two parties which continued to an outside area of the residence. While the two parties were fighting, a brother of the suspect, identified as Justin VARGAS, entered the victim’s residence and removed multiple pairs of Jordan tennis shoes. Both suspects fled the area on foot. The victim sustained sign non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants for both suspects.

Described as a Hispanic male, 5’10”, 190lbs with a medium build, brown hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of the Virgin Mary on his left arm
                Wanted for malicious wounding, burglary, and grand larceny

Described as a Hispanic male, 5’8”, 165lbs with a medium build, brown hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of a skull on his left arm
                Wanted for malicious wounding, burglary, and grand larceny
 

 
Attempted Residential Burglary – On March 19th at 12:06PM, police responded to a residence located in the 12000 block of Winona Way in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that between 6:00PM on March 18th and 8:20AM on March 19th, an unknown person(s) attempted to enter the home through a side door which was damaged. No entry was made into the home and no property was reported missing.
