The success of a Charlottesville firm has seen it grow to more than 70 employees since 2008. The success, according to a Natural Resources Defense Council report, bolsters the fact that clean-energy practices can create and additional 5,000 jobs in Virginia by 2020.
Apex Clean-Energy vice-president, Dave Belote, says his focus is working with military bases as they turn to solar and other renewable energy sources.
The report also says that through increasing energy efficiency, customer see a savings of more than four-dollars a month on their energy bills. That contradicts critic claims of higher bills and lost jobs.
