RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Not every Richmond resident is a fan of the city's decision to lure the Washington Redskins' training camp to town.
They expressed their misgivings Thursday at what can be described as a contentious meeting. Speakers questioned city officials about financing for the $10 million training camp facility, traffic and noise and more.
The Redskins have committed to conduct their three-week training camp in Richmond for at least eight years starting next summer. The NFL team signed an economic incentive deal with the state in June.
Mayor Dwight Jones has submitted a plan that is subject to City Council approval.
City officials estimate the camp will draw 100,000 people a year and have a yearly economic impact of about $8.5 million.
