by WGME - Portland, ME posted Nov 12 2013 3:54PM
VIDEO -       MANCHESTER, Maine (AP) - The skeletal remains found by a hunter in a wooded area of central Maine have been tentatively identified based on a Virginia driver's license found at the scene.
State police identified the man on Monday as 33-year-old Paul Tolbert of Radford, Va., after his parents were contacted. DNA will be used to confirm the identification.
The remains were found Saturday in Manchester, outside the state capital of Augusta.
Police say there was no sign of foul play and that Tolbert had not been reported missing. He was in Maine attending a drug rehabilitation program in Winthrop.
The remains appear to have been at the scene about 200 yards off a local road for more than a year. Investigators will try to retrace the man's steps after the ID is confirmed.
