Fredericksburg police are investigating a failed attempt to get some money by blowing up an ATM. It happens this morning at the Virginia Credit Union on Gordon Shelton Blvd. in Celebrate Virginia. The ATM had scorch marks and some damage but was still intact and functioning.
The credit union called police shortly after 9 o’clock about 15 minutes after a resident who lives in that area reported hearing some type of explosion at the credit union building about 4 a.m. The caller said the explosion set off car alarms in the nearby apartment complex.
Bank security video confirms that some sort of explosive device went off about 4 a.m.
