The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office got ten new members Monday when the animal control officers were sworn in as deputies.

Captain Mike Harvey of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office said the animal control officers have been going to the academy and have been exposed to the same risks as their fellow deputies.

In 2009 the animal control officers became part of the sheriff’s office.
