On March 26, 201, at approximately 10:30pm, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call in the 5300 block of Cedar Ridge Drive. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that an unknown subject had fired several shots from a small caliber firearm into an occupied residence and then fled the scene. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division responded and processed the scene, recovering numerous spent shells and bullets, along with other items of evidentiary value.
During the ongoing investigation, it was determined that the family currently living in the residence was mistakenly targeted and that the shooting most likely stemmed from an altercation with another person who had recently moved from the neighboring residence. The victims in the residence where the shooting occurred were shaken, however no one was injured.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is actively following up on several leads; however, the suspect involved in the incident has not yet been positively identified. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public regarding the identity of the subject involved in this shooting.
