Last week, I went to Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg and test drove some brand new 2015's. I had a lot of fun driving around the vehicles. Honda is a great brand and if you're looking for a new car you need to stop by Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg. They have over 700 Hondas in stock for you to choose from. Make sure you tell them that I (Bonnie from WFLS) sent you and they will take care of you. Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg, is at 60 South Gateway Drive in Stafford right off 95 and Route 17.

Here's some pictures of one of the vehicles I test drove. It's the 2015 Honda CR-V.

This past weekend I went to my first seed swap in downtown Warrenton. It was a lot of fun. My BFF went with me. We were able to exchange some of our seeds for seeds we didn't have. :)

Everyone collects something interesting. Right? I wanted to share with you something I collect. I have a really awesome (yes I said awesome) collection of raw amethyst that I have found and have been collecting over the years. I keep my precious stones in a large ball jar.

My husband, went to Morefield Gem Mine in Amelia county back in the late 80's when he was a kid. He introduced me to this place when we were dating. He now has a huge raw garnet collection (with lots of various sizes) that he also keeps in a very large ball jar.

We have taken many day trips to the mine over the years. The mine is open right now!!! It's not open all the time so make sure you check the website before you plan your trip. Looks like you need to call ahead to make a reservation Wednesday-Friday. Saturday you do not need a reservation. There is a small admission fee but it's worth it.

Some suggestions if you take your little ones.

-picnic Lunch
-cooler (for drinks)
-buckets
-shovels-
-wear old clothes, boots
-baby wipes/ hand sanitzier
-clean clothes to change into
-towel
-old film containers or ziploc bags for your gems/rocks

**Tip: If you are looking for red garnets you will find them in the red clay. If you're looking for purple amethyst then those are normally found in the fresh dirt they bring up from the mine.

Maybe I'll see you there one day? :) If you go, please send me a picture of what you find. (Bmiller@wfls.com)

I saw this on facebook the other day and had to share. :)

Do you ever wonder what happens in the National Archives when it's closed to the public? The Racing Presidents of the
Washington Nationals baseball team showed up at 6am last week on Wednesday!
They filmed a special opening sequence that will be shown at the Nats ballpark before the mascots' famous race after the 4th inning. You will be able to see it at a Nats game this summer.

See Lincoln plays hide and seek with the columns.......

By the way something you don't know about me......I am actually related to the real President Lincoln. :)

Spring is ALMOST here! :) YAY!

Have you started any seeds yet? I have and I have lots of sprouts in my little indoor garden. I always start my seedlings in my house. I have the perfect sunny window. :)
I have peas, green beans, carrots, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, and cucumbers that have already sprouted. I also have some marigolds, sunflowers, eggplant, cherry tomatoes, parsley, basil and potatoes planted. :)

This past Sunday on 'The Walking Dead', Carol baked some cookies for the welcome party at the Alexandria Safe House.

I thought it would be nice to bake these up and bring in "Carol's Cookies" for my Walking Dead co-workers today.

The Walking Dead posted the recipe on their facebook page.

You will need:

1/4 cup applesauce

1/4 chocolate bar (1/4 cup chocolate chips)

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/4 cup shortening (or 1/4 unsalted butter)

1 cup flour

1/8 tsp salt

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup white sugar

1/4 tsp homemade vanilla extract

Combine shortening or butter and the sugars until fluffy. Mix in applesauce and vanilla. Set aside. In a separate bowl mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt until combined. Slowly add dry mix to the wet mix. Let rest for 3 to 5 minutes. While dough is resting melt your chocolate in a pot on the stove. Once it's melted, add to the batter and mix until all is combined.

I did manage to get 16 cookies out of the batter.

***If you want to bake more cookies (than a dozen) you might want to double the recipe.***

Scoop dough onto greased cookie sheet and bake.

Here's a dozen cookies ready for the oven.

Bake on 350 degrees for 11 to 13 minutes. These cookies were ready in 13 minutes for me.

They taste like a brownie. :)

I brought the cookies into work today. They are a hit! :)

KFC is going to be testing an edible coffee cup in Britain. It's called the "Scoff-ee Cup" and KFC is developing a range of edible cups in conjunction with the launch of Seattle's Best Coffee in its U.K restaurants. It's not yet on sale, but KFC says it hopes to bring them to some U.K. stores this year. There are no U.S. plans at this time.

The 'cup' is a cookie with a heat resistant white chocolate. You can drink your coffee and then eat the cup.

If it came to the U.S. would you be willing to try it?
