Stafford Superintendent Sends Letter to Address "End of the World" Threats

Several local school systems have been dealing with rumors about threats of school violence Friday, in relation to the unfounded "end of the world," as predicted by the Mayan calendar.
In Stafford County, Superintendent Randy Bridges sent a letter home to parents to reassure them about security and a stepped up police presence. In Stafford, like some other localities, the student code of conduct addresses disciplinary action regarding "threats of catastrophic events, regardless of an intent to carry out the threat." A spokeswoman there says what may seem like a funny prank will have serious consequences.
