WASHINGTON (AP) - Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg plans to "give it everything" he has whenever he pitches this season and not worry about the innings limit he'll have after reconstructive elbow surgery.
Strasburg says Tuesday he wants to "be like one of the other guys" when he takes the mound, even if he knows the Nationals want to restrict him to about 160 innings in his first full major league season.
Strasburg calls his assignment as Washington's opening-day starter at the Chicago Cubs on Thursday a "huge honor," made more special because a year ago at this time he was still throwing on flat ground while rehabbing after his operation.
He says he "worked extremely hard" to return and "the job isn't done; I've still got a lot to learn."
