Some homeowners are afraid to prune trees or shrubs this time of year.
Local Horticulturist Mark Viette says for fruit trees and some others, it's the best time. Take a walk on your property first. When you start, take off any dead ordying branches and those damaged by storms and wildlife, but always wear eye protection for the job.
Viette says all your trees and shrubs should be pruned every five to seven years to spur new growth.
