Summer Sickness is Equally Dangerous as in the Winter

by Deirdre Blake posted Jul 11 2013 5:49PM
Even though the weather is warm, people still need to remember the basics to stay well. Dr. Brooke Rossheim with the Rappahannock Area Health District tells WFLS that there are more than 200 viruses around all year. Many of them live on hard surfaces for long periods of time. When you touch things, like desks and door knobs, that are covered and touch your face, you can self innoculate. Remember to wash hands frequently and avoid touching objects that could be covered in germs.
Most people assume it is just a cold or allergy and let symptoms linger to long. If you also have a fever or if it lasts more than 7 to 10 days, see a doctor.
