Tiny Caroline County Town Grows in Size

by Deirdre Blake posted Jul 2 2014 9:50AM
It's an important chapter in history for the tiny town of Port Royal in Caroline County. This week, new boundaries created make it five times the size it used to be, up from 78 to 481 acres. The new town limits are now about 500 feet west of U.S. 301, and fold in the intersection of U.S. 301 and U.S. 17. Port Royal doesn't collect real estate or personal property taxes, but makes money from grants, parking decal fees, local sales, business license and utility taxes.
