by Deirdre Blake posted Jun 28 2013 10:46AM
The transformer fire behind Mason Hall on the University of Mary Washington campus on Thursday evening appears to have been caused by a mechanical malfuntion.
A school spokeswoman tells us that Dominion Virginia Power rushed to the scene and Fredericksburg Fire extinguished the blaze. A hazmat team was also called in. There are no injuries, but some power was lost. A few orientation leaders on site were move to UMW apartments overnight.
