A Richmond man faces list ofcharges following a traffic stop and pursuit on northbound I-95 this morning taht resulted in damage to two state police cars.
The incident began at mile marker 109 in Caroline County just before 8 a.m. when a trooper stopped the driver of a pick-up truck for reckless driving, 88 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone. After stopping 29-year-old Raymond E. Sims-Lewis
sped away at speeds up to 90 miles per our.
The pursuit ending just three miles away after the truck collided with two unmarked state police vehicles.
The driver and passenger were take to VCU Medical Center with minor injuries. The troopers were not injured.
Sims-Lewis is charged with two felony counts of destruction of property, one felony count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one felony count of hit and run, and one felony count of eluding police and possession of a firearm without a serial number ; one misdemeanor count of possessing a firearm in violation of a protective order, and one misdemeanor count of possessing a concealed weapon. Traffic violations include reckless driving and not possessing a valid drivers license. The driver was also wanted by the City of Richmond on a felony eluding charge. He was held without bond pending arraignment, Dec. 9 at the Pamunkey Regional Jail.
