Washington National Monument Temporarily Goes Dark Today

by Deirdre Blake posted Nov 4 2013 6:54AM
When you head toward the 14 Street Bridge into DC, you usually know you're almost there by seeing the Washington Monument, but it'll be a little harder starting today.
The ornamental lights that had stayed on during earthquake repair work go dark today. But that's good news. It means 15-million-dollars worth of repairs are almost done. Scaffolding starts coming down next week and by February, the monument will again be glowing.
