LAKE ORION, Mich. (AP) - Tom Watson says winning his first U.S. Senior Open would mean a great deal to him.

The three-time runner-up at the Champions Tour major believes his chances are good if he continues to drive the ball well and improves an inconsistent iron game at Indianwood Country Club this week.

Watson, Fred Couples and amateur Douglas Snoap will tee off together Thursday morning in the first round.

USGA officials say they have set up the 6,891-yard course with tight fairways, thick rough and small greens to be the toughest test on the circuit this year.

Watson says players who don't put it in the fairway often will be going to the airport on Friday night.
