Thief Steals Gas from Police Car
JENKINS, Ky. (AP) - There it was on Facebook for all to see - Michael Baker with a gas can, a siphon hose stuck into a police cruiser in eastern Kentucky and a middle finger raised.

Among those who saw it were Jenkins police, who arrested 20-year-old Baker on Monday and charged him with theft by unlawful taking.

Baker told WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/HUTwfV) in Hazard there wasn't much fuel in the car to siphon and the stunt on Friday was intended as a joke. Baker's girlfriend took the photo and posted it.

Police didn't laugh. Chief Allen Bormes says that if Baker would steal from police, he'd steal from "just about anybody."

Authorities say they plan to buy lockable gas caps.

Customers Must Travel for "Dirty Bastard" Beer
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - You can buy Fat Bastard wine in Alabama, but you'll have to go elsewhere for Dirty Bastard beer.

The state alcoholic beverage control agency said Thursday it has banned Dirty Bastard beer because of profanity on its label. But the maker, Michigan-based Founders Brewing Co., can appeal the decision to the agency's board.

The state allows the sale of Fat Bastard wine. But board attorney Bob Martin says the brand was approved years ago, and he doesn't know the circumstances.

Alabama gained notice a few years ago for banning a wine brand that featured a nude nymph on its label. Its decision on the beer is opposed by Free The Hops, a group that advocates for new beer brands in Alabama.

Caps coach: Bruins going after Backstrom's head

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Capitals coach Dale Hunter says the Boston Bruins are going after the head of Washington center Nicklas Backstrom, who missed half the regular season because of a concussion.

Says Hunter: "It is crossing the line. To grab his head all the time is not the right way to play."

Asked Tuesday, an off day in the first-round Eastern Conference playoff series, whether he thinks the Bruins are targeting Backstrom's head, Hunter replied: "Oh, yeah."

Hunter expects the NHL to overturn the game misconduct penalty Backstrom got for putting his stick in the face of Rich Peverley at the end of Boston's 4-3 victory in Game 3 on Monday. Hunter says Backstrom "was trying to protect his face," because Peverley had his stick raised.

Game 4 is Thursday. Boston leads 2-1.

Public Sex Banned at Nude Beach
TOWN OF MAZOMANIE, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin officials have long turned a blind eye to nudists who flock to a beach about a half hour north of the capital - but they draw the line at public sex.

Officials say arrests for drug use and illicit sex at the beach on the Wisconsin River just north of Mazomanie spiked last year. In just nine days of surveillance, wardens arrested 42 people for illicit sex or drug possession, up from 14 in six days in 2007.

To try to curb the bad behavior, the state Department of Natural Resources said Tuesday it will close down huge expanses of the woods around the beach in hopes of forcing people into clear view.

Nudists aren't happy with the plan, but other river users say something must be done.

Cheese Championships
MILWAUKEE (AP) - A 24-pound Dutch cheese named the best in the world last month has been auctioned off for $8,400, or $350 per pound, in Wisconsin.

The wheel of Vermeer, a low-fat Gouda-style cheese, scored a mild upset at the World Championship Cheese Contest in Madison, beating out two cheeses from Switzerland and preventing the Swiss from capturing a fourth straight title.

Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association spokesman John Umhoefer said Thursday it was sold as part of an auction that raised $140,000 to help educate cheesemakers. An Illinois company that supplies dairy products to industrial manufacturers bought it.

The cheese made by Friesland Campina of Steenderen, Netherlands, wasn't the most expensive sold Wednesday. A 32-pound set of three gold-medal cheeses produced a Wisconsin company went for $500 per pound.

Wanted Man Gives Fake Name; Real Name Tattooed on Forearm
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) - A 19-year-old Idaho man with his last name tattooed on his forearm apparently tried to give police a fake name and was arrested.

The Times-News  reports 19-year-old Dylan Edward Contreras was arrested early Saturday on outstanding warrants.

An officer says he told three men who were walking on the street with a dog to move to the sidewalk, and that one looked like he might run away, so he asked for identification.

Contreras identified himself as Emiliano Velesco, and a police database search found no matches. The officer then had a dispatcher run a check with the birthday he was given and the last name tattooed on the forearm.
