A customer of Lowes in Central Park is duped by a man pretending to be religious.
The victim tells Fredericksburg Police he approached her in the parking lot asking about the location of area churches. The man then asked the victim if he could hold any cash she might have so that he could pray over it with her and bring good fortune. The victim handed him a quantity of cash. After the man gave the envelope of money back and left the scene, the victim discovered the cash was replaced with pieces of paper.
The suspect is described as dark-skinned with a heavy accent, approximately 6' and 200 pounds, and wearing a "parade cap". The investigation is ongoing.
