The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding the culprit or culprits who rummaged through as many as 20 unlocked cars in the Friendship Heights and Three Flags subdivisions late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
Five owners reported missing articles ranging from loose change and electronics, but none of the vehicles was damaged, according to Sheriff Scott Jenkins. The thieves apparently targeted only unlocked vehicles.
“This should serve as a reminder to all residents of Culpeper, in both neighborhoods and rural areas, to secure your valuables out of sight, and lock your car and house doors,” Jenkins said.
Deputies canvassed both neighborhoods all day Thursday and distributed fliers in an effort to find leads.
Anyone noticing suspicious activity or anyone having any knowledge of the thefts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 727-7900 or Culpeper Crime Solvers at 727-0300.
