Are You a Secret Hoarder?
We’ve all seen those TV shows featuring EXTREME HOARDERS, but according to a new survey, a surprising number of Americans may be guilty of a little hoarding themselves!
It turns out that half of us admit to having at least one room in our home that’s practically a no-go zone thanks to all the clutter. (No word on which rooms are the worst offenders, but let’s hope it’s not the bathroom!)
In fact, 34% of people say their entire home feels cramped, and more than half of us – 55% – wish we didn’t have to get rid of anything just to make space.
The average person even dreams of having three extra rooms in their house! (Honestly, why stop at three? Don’t tell us “it’d be too much to clean” — not cleaning is what got us here in the first place, right?)
So, what are the toughest things to let go of? Here’s the top 10 list of items people with hoarder tendencies find hardest to purge:
- Clothes
- Kitchen equipment (appliances, dishware, gadgets — you know the drill)
- Hobby items
- Shoes (yes, they’re different from clothes!)
- Groceries and food items (because you might need that expired can of beans someday…)
- Furniture
- Seasonal décor that’s stashed away most of the year
- Memorabilia
- Random one-off items (take a look around, you’ll get it)
- Books
