Dark Star Saloon & Cafe

Friday night, I went to dinner with a friend who came to visit from Nashville.  I’d been hearing great things about a new restaurant called Dark Saloon & Cafe.  It’s in downtown Fredericksburg so we decided to try it.  Chef Kris and his staff are awesome!!!  I’ve never been to a place where the Chef comes to you and introduces himself and asks you how your meal was.

All the decor was really cool.  So much to look at.

I ordered the Chicken Coop & Rice.  (haha)  It’s chicken three ways.  Mama Hen’s chicken breast, hardboiled egg, scrambled egg breakfast rice, onion, hemp seed pesto, and herb oil.  YUMMY!  Find the menu here.

For dessert we shared a chocolate bomb.  This was new and we were one of the first ones to try it.  It’s a chocolate mousse inside the shell on top of a brownie.  The sauce is soooooo good.  Please give me a bowl of that.  haha   Yes there’s an herb oil.  But all the flavors go so well together.  It was amazing!

The Chef also wanted us to try another small dessert.  It’s white chocolate, colored green with pieces of mango and a fruit sauce.  YUM!!!!!

If you get the chance go check this place out.  With restaurant week starting this Friday you should go try them.  I can’t wait to go back for brunch.  The menu looks delicious.
