Feeling Stuck at Your Job?

We’ve all daydreamed about telling our boss we’re quitting. For some, it’s a sweet fantasy . . . but for others, it’s an awkward situation they’d rather avoid altogether.

There are people out there who have stayed in jobs much longer than they wanted to—maybe you’re one of them. Whether it’s because you feel guilty, don’t want to disappoint anyone, or simply dread that uncomfortable conversation, leaving can be hard. But what if you didn’t have to do it yourself?

Believe it or not, there are companies out there that will handle the quitting for you! These businesses will call your employer, break the news, and even take care of the details—like negotiating your last day and arranging the return of company-owned gear.

For now, these services are mainly offered in Japan, which makes sense given the culture. Japanese workers often avoid confrontation, especially when they respect their boss or feel a sense of loyalty to the company. But this service isn’t just for people with a guilty conscience. One person even admitted they used the service to send a message, saying, “My colleagues weren’t worth saying goodbye to.”

Thinking about it? The cost for this “we quit for you” service is usually around $200 to $300.

Would you give it a try? Or are you more the “take this job and shove it” type?
