ICYMI: Tiffany Got Engaged!
If you haven’t heard, I got engaged over the weekend to my best friend!!!
Once I announced the news this week, I got two responses. One was so much love and congrats that I am still in awe of the support and kindness of our WFLS family. The second response I got… HOW DID BRANDON PROPOSE?!
Seriously, it’s been asked probably over 100 times now so, instead of repeating it time again and the possibility of someone missing out on hearing the story when they wanted to know, I decided to share it here. Enjoy!
Here’s what happened…
I guess the original plan was to propose during our Nashville trip. For those who don’t know, Brandon surprised me with a completely planned and paid for upcoming trip to Nashville back in January. The trip was a surprise and planned for this past weekend, May the 4th weekend. Apparently he had been planning to propose at a rooftop country bar while in Nashville and then go see Morgan Wallen in concert afterwards.
Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.
Brandon got injured from a previous injury and has been having back problems ever since to the point of needing an MRI. As we got closer to our Nashville trip, our doctor informed us that it would not be the best idea to fly at this time due to back injury and we decided it was better to put his health first and reschedule our Nashville trip.
Now while I didn’t see that as a big deal, of course it sent Brandon into a panic. Unbeknownst to me, that was when he was planning to propose. So along comes plan B. Before I finish the story, I am sure you are wondering why it had to be this past weekend- well, he wanted to propose on May 4th because he is a huge Star Wars nerd AND as he said “that would help me remember what day I proposed.”
May the 4th came around, and we decided to have a date night. Brandon drove his new Tacoma truck down to the river behind Brock’s Riverside Grill in Downtown Fredericksburg. This is a significant spot because it is where he first met my mom and where we took our first ever picture together by the water. The plan was to walk along the river but right before I got out of the car, he asked me to hand him his wallet out of the glovebox. I probably should have found this odd since he never puts it in there but I was oblivious. So I opened the glovebox and handed him his wallet and he just stared at me and kept looking back and forth between the glovebox and me. Confused, I kept saying “What?” and finally got the hint to look back in the glovebox where there was a red box. I still had no idea what it was until I took it out. That’s when it dawned on me and I said a big, fat, dumb “Ohhhhhh.” *head smack*
I immediately started tearing up, not believing this to be happening and kept asking if this was real. After reassuring me multiple times, Brandon asked me to marry him to which my response was “Do you want to put the ring on my finger?”. He responded “Do you want to answer me?” Another head smack moment, I was so frazzled I forgot to answer! We both laughed as I said, “Oh right! Yes, sure, 100% yes!!!”
So that’s our story. I will say while it wasn’t done in Nashville, it was still perfect. It was quirky like us, involved laughter and in the end I get to marry my best friend which is all that matters. So for anyone out there planning a proposal remember, it doesn’t matter where, when or how as long as it is special to you and your partner.
