‘Puss ‘N Boots,’ and ‘Oz’

Stafford High School will present the Stafford Players in “Puss ‘N Boots,” a 45-minute play geared to elementary school-aged audiences, followed by “Oz” for middle school-aged audiences and up. There will be a break between the two performances.
With ogres, cats and queens tangled in the pursuit of staying true to one’s heart, “Puss ‘N Boots’ is a tale of charm and dazzling entertainment. Will, who is no more than a poor mill boy, soon finds himself caught in the throes of adventure upon meeting a princess and a clever cat that speaks. Amidst the flurry of fur and secrets lies the question of what will we sacrifice to pursue our dreams.
In “Oz,” Beth is reeling from her sister’s death and finds herself journeying through a world suspiciously resembling “The Wizard of Oz.” The yellow brick road is sold to foreign investors after a financial meltdown; the Scarecrow is in ignorant bliss; the Cowardly Lion acts like a paranoid sociopath; the Tin Man embraces his emotional numbness; and Beth wonders what role she plays in the story. See this hilarious and heart-wrenching exploration of grief and perseverance on the road to acceptance.
The play is on Friday, December 8, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 9, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Cost is $5 for children, seniors and students and $9 for adults.
