Chick-Fil-A sauce…
The Chick-Fil-A sauce was invented here in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg back in the 80’s at the only Chick-Fil-A in the area at the time. It was at the Spotsylvania Mall (which is now called Spotsylvania Towne Centre) when it was over by JCPenney. The owner/operator of the Chick-Fil-A, Hugh Fleming accidentally mixed barbeque sauce and honey mustard and got the sauce. They would make it every day from scratch. I remember when I was a kid and going there with my mother and siblings. We always pumped the sauce in a little cup. It’s great to dip the waffle fries in. Only a select few employees knew how to make the sauce. Finally Chick-Fil-A recognized how popular it was and had Mr. Fleming make the recipe to be packaged and distributed to all Chick-fil-A locations. Pretty cool that it all started here.
