Who’s Still Eating Leftovers? Looks Like It’s Time To Stop.
Are you still chowing down on the remnants of Thanksgiving? It’s time to say goodbye.
Your never-ending leftovers really should end TODAY. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service recommends throwing out refrigerated leftovers after three to four days. Of course, if you stick what’s left in the freezer, they say it can stay good for three to four months.
There is some flexibility, contingent upon the nature of the food. However, caution is advised. Relying solely on the “smell-test” is not foolproof, particularly when it comes to items containing meat and dairy. Additionally, leftovers from Thanksgiving dishes may spoil more rapidly than those from regular meals due to an extended period of being left out.
All that to say…when it comes to turkey day leftovers, it’s time to let go.
